One-liner

Healthcare AI product and technology leader, educator, cacao grower, ecstatic dance DJ, and psychedelic risk-reduction advocate in San Francisco.

Short bio

Rev Hooman is a healthcare AI product and technology leader in San Francisco. Through EntheoAI and the Entheology Project he builds RAG chatbots, knowledge systems, and readiness tools like Psychedelic Ready for health, research, and knowledge-driven organizations, drawing on more than two decades in adtech, cybersecurity, healthcare, and product leadership. He also grows cacao, makes chocolate, DJs ecstatic dances, and hosts free music-led educational gatherings through the Entheo Earth Community. His throughline isn’t hype. It’s preparation.

Long bio

Rev Hooman has spent more than twenty years learning how technology, institutions, and people interact, then building products that hold up in the real world. His career runs through early SaaS, e-commerce, advertising platforms, Kaiser Permanente’s digital search, and a UCSF security-awareness campaign that reached more than 16,000 faculty and staff.

Today he leads EntheoAI, a San Francisco applied-AI company building custom RAG chatbots, MCP servers, and knowledge systems for health, research, and knowledge-driven organizations. He founded the Entheology Project, a nonprofit supporting psychedelic mental wellness and risk reduction, where he builds AI-assisted preparation tools like Psychedelic Ready readiness assessments and EntheoDNA, both educational and non-diagnostic. He wrote Magic Mushroom Seekers’ Guide to the Galaxy (2023), an early ChatGPT-assisted health-education book.

Away from the keyboard he grows cacao, makes functional chocolate at HL Manufacturing, DJs Middle Eastern, Afro-Latin, and global sets, and hosts The Entheogen Series, free music-led educational gatherings presented by the Entheo Earth Community. Entheogens aren’t served, sold, or consumed there. The conversation is the point.

Suggested host intro

“My guest today is Rev Hooman, a healthcare AI product and technology leader out of San Francisco. He builds AI knowledge systems for health and research organizations, wrote one of the first ChatGPT-assisted books on psilocybin education, grows his own cacao, and DJs ecstatic dances. He’s also one of the clearest voices on psychedelic preparation and risk reduction. Rev, welcome to the show.”

Talking points

  • Preparation, not just integration: the psychedelic conversation starts too late
  • Building AI that healthcare organizations can trust: retrieval, provenance, honest uncertainty
  • Educational, non-diagnostic tools for psychedelic readiness (Psychedelic Ready, EntheoDNA)
  • Writing a book with ChatGPT in 2022, before that was normal
  • Two decades across adtech, security, and health systems, and what transfers
  • Music, cacao, and community as product disciplines
  • Responsible public communication about psychedelics

Episode 21: Rev Hooman

with Jared Lumsdon

Psychedelics aren't a magic pill. They're a tool that can show you your loops, if you prepare and do the work after. We talked about building AI that supports preparation and integration with real guardrails, and why daily habits and faith carry the change forward.

Is AI the Future of Psychedelic Therapy? (81% Need Support, Only 15% Get It!)

with Jakaya McCambry

AI should not replace psychedelic-assisted therapy practitioners. It should help them support people more safely, consistently, and affordably: preparing and educating seekers, surfacing evidence-backed information, flagging risks that warrant professional review, and automating check-ins while human care stays at the center.

My show

What a Trip!

Entheogenic stories from experts in the space. One guest. One story. The same question every time:

“What was the most psychedelic experience of your life?”

It isn’t a question about drugs. Some of the best answers have nothing to do with a substance at all. A birth. A death. A phone call at three in the morning. Something cracked a person open faster than they could hold it, and they were never quite the same after.

I sit down with one guest for one hour and one story. Founders and facilitators, mycologists and church builders, writers and clinicians, and people who simply went in unprepared and came out different. What they took. Who was in the room. What they did to get ready, and whether any of it made a difference.

The premise is that these substances are amplifiers, not magic. What you bring in shapes what comes out. Almost everyone in this field talks about integration, about the after. Very few talk about the before. That gap nearly cost me my life in 2017.

These conversations also feed my upcoming book, What a Trip! What Happens When You’re Not Prepared for the Most Psychedelic Experience of Your Life. If your story is told on the show, it may be featured in the book.

This is the show I wish had existed.
